The “Space Art Poster Gallery” was created with the strategy to prove that combining the analog with the digital makes it possible to consume art in alternative spaces such as a domestic habitat, a window, a hallway, etc. In short, the artwork is conceived as an Art Multiple within the genre of a Neo Mail-Art movement that is innovative in its use of technology to introduce new networking and forms of collaboration, which extend the mail art experience without violating any of its principles.
To enjoy the analog aspect of the work, one just hangs the poster up in appropriate space; To view the digital layer of the work, the viewer scans the QR code on the poster using any scanning app on a smart devise or download the Artivive app and scann it in. In both cases, the scanning of the poster connects the user to digitally augmentation of the poster.
In a more advance form of the app, the user will be able to view each of the Art Asterisms on the poster individually or can experience them together in the form of complex galaxy made out of an impressive collage of diverse star constellations.
Over the years, a few artists were able to place works in space. Some were intended for intelligent extraterrestrial life forms to find on cosmic travels; others were placed as part of an ultimate exhibition space.
The mixmedia artwork "The Big Space Fuck” celebrates the concept of the countdown that is used for starting a simple foot race to the launching of a rocket to the moon, and picks up on the interest that artist have had to place artwork in space by creating artworks for a synthetic zero-gravity environment where they can float and rotate as if they were suspended in space and subject to orbital ebbs and flows.
Content wise, the work consists of a collection of abstractions of artworks that were created with the intention of having them exhibited in outer space. Some of the artworks referenced are actually sitting on the moon or orbiting the earth, and others never survived the launch or are simply waiting for their countdown. The work also expresses the unkind act of sending something into space that inevitably turns into space debree and affects outer environments of the earth and in turn life on earth in a negative way,
The more trained eye schooled slightly in the history of Space Art might come to recognize constellations of stars that are reminiscent of works in space by Andy Warhol., Paul Van Hoeydonck, Trevor Paglen, Carl Sagan, Robert Rauschenberg, Forrest Myers, David Novros, and Claes Oldenburg, works that seem appropriate to launch into space but which have not yet reached their count down have also be sighted and include works by Arthur Clay, Hannes Malte Mahler, and a doodle by Kurt Vonnegut.
Each of the abstractions used in the work form part of a constellation gallery that is filled with works that were created to be viewed from all sides as they circle orbit around the viewer, who is immersed into a galaxy undergoing constant change and endless variation as rotation unfolds on diverse orbital planes.
